Why follow KW Family Reunion on Twitter? Following an event on Twitter adds a rich new dimension to the experience. With your smart phone in hand, you suddenly have a backchannel into what hundreds of others around you are observing, thinking and doing. Twitter says its mission is to “instantly connect people everywhere to what’s most important to them.” Each day news stories are broken as users around the globe post 140-character updates about events unfolding around them. As a result, Twitter has often been called the “pulse of the world.” We think it’s the perfect tool for you to experience a big event like Family Reunion from as many perspectives as possible.
Vendors will be tweeting special events. Agents and brokers will be sharing aha’s and tips from their breakout sessions. Networks will announce impromptu gatherings. Jokers will be cracking wise about gaffs and goofs. And, of course, the social media team at KWRI will be sharing interesting and informative information as well.
So what exactly do you need to do to tap into this undercurrent of information and entertainment? Who are the best people to follow?
If you don’t currently have a Twitter account, visit https://twitter.com/signup and get started. There is also a Twitter Start Up Guide available on myKW on the Marketing tab.
For everyone else, login to Twitter and search for the KW Family Reunion event hashtag: #KWFR. You can then click the “Save this search” button on the top, right-hand side of your page to save the search. All the popular Twitter mobile apps will allow you to add a column for the same search so you quickly access the stream of event-related tweets.
Here is a short list of notable or official #KWFR Twitter profiles:

1. Calls to Action
Does your blog have a call to action? Just like your website, your BLOG should also make the best out of using “calls to action” to capture more business.
If your blog does not have a built-in IDX system, then link over to the IDX page on your website. Need an IDX provider? Consider using Wolfnet, Diverse Solutions or 1ParkPlace.
2. Maximize your Social Media Profiles
Most real estate agents have a profile on Facebook, LinkedIn and Twitter. Make the most of these sites by linking to your blog in the profile section. Also, consider adding your RSS feed to these sites.
3. Write TO Your Target Audience
You have a much better chance at getting “found” when you know who you want to FIND you. Your audience could be:
If you can implement these three tips NOW, you will be many, many steps ahead of your competition and on your way to an even MORE successful real estate blog … and career!

If you are a real estate blogger, you will always be inundated by things that you “should” be doing with your blog. This can be quite overwhelming! So, let’s just break it down to 3 things that you can do – right now – to improve your real estate blog.
1. Calls to Action
Does your blog have a call to action? Just like your website, your BLOG should also make the best out of using “calls to action” to capture more business.
- Place a link to your IDX and CMA at the bottom of each blog post.
- Place a link to your IDX and CMA in the top section of your sidebar.
- For Facebook, add your Blog RSS feed to the notes page of your business fan page. (Adding it to your personal profile may be a violation of Facebook’s Terms of Service.)
- For LinkedIn, Add your Blog RSS feed to your profile page.
- For Twitter, consider using a service like TwitterFeed to automatically update Twitter whenever you publish a new blog post.
*Make sure that your auto-posts are not your only posts on Twitter. Twitter only “works” as a business tool when your auto-posts are used as a supplement to your human, one-on-one interactions.
3. Write TO Your Target Audience
You have a much better chance at getting “found” when you know who you want to FIND you. Your audience could be:
- geographic (ex: neighborhood, town, school district),
- demographic (ex: first time home buyer, first time seller, empty nester),
- property type (ex: condos, tri-levels, land, luxury) and/or
- market of the moment (ex: foreclosures, bank owned)
If you can implement these three tips NOW, you will be many, many steps ahead of your competition and on your way to an even MORE successful real estate blog … and career!

Seven easy steps to build your Twitter-sphere
1. Tweet often and interesting content. If it looks like you’re never on, or all your tweets seem to be mini sales pitches, you will not gain Twitter followers.
2. Follow more people. There are a lot of tools to help you find people who have common interests such as Twitter Search and Find People.
3. Make your Tweets interesting. Tweet neat facts or link to interesting blogs, articles and Websites you come across.
4. Let more people know that you are on Twitter. Add a link to your feed on your email signature or link to your Website and blog.
5. Upload a profile photo or logo. There are many people who will not follow or allow followers who do not have a photo. Having a picture or logo makes you look more legitimate.
6. Contribute to your feed as a personality, not just as a business.
7. Engage in conversations on Twitter. Direct Message (D) people, @ reply people, re-tweet (RT) interesting tweets, and participate in hashtag (#) topics.
